DISTRICT XII.
The XII. district is one of the greenest districts of the city, which is no wonder, as it is located on the heights of the Buda Mountains, full of forests, clearings and super vantage points, among which the Erzsébet Lookout and, of course, the Normafa - where the layering is based! - most liked. In addition to the Svábhegy Astronomical Observatory and the Children's Railway, you will find educational trails, countless turn-of-the-century villas and lots of great places to eat!
Sometimes it's refreshing, sometimes it's soothing - when we want to - to go hiking on the slopes of the Buda Mountains, and if we decide completely spontaneously to walk in nature, we'll get out of the city relatively quickly, even if we use public transport instead of the car. Hegyvidék, in the middle of the Buda side, lies right on the edge of the city, so much so that its western part is also the border of Budapest.
The XII. district, if not the greenest district in Budapest, but it is certainly one of them. What is worth noting is that Hegyvidék, which is more like a garden, is not exactly the partying, sociable area of Budapest, so if you want to have fun, there is a good chance that you will visit another district - although if you are looking for it, you will find it here. Primarily, of course, places where you can have dinner and drinks while having a good conversation.
The XII. the district is more characterized by venues where the repertoire offers more: concerts, theater, literary and stand-up parties, discussions on various scientific, cultural and public issues, dance, possibly an exhibition and community cultural recreation for the local residents.
The district is also well-developed in terms of transportation, there are many bus and tram routes in this district. Although if you are visiting Hegyvidék, the tram is a better choice instead of buses, trams 56, 59 and 61 also pass here, but what provides an even more exciting journey is the cogwheel. For those who love heights and don't have space, it's worth trying the Zugliget Gondola, which offers a wonderful panorama of the city and is also a pretty good date option.
